I have shared Ryan Anderson's story with many of you these past few months. For those of you who may not know, Ryan is a senior offensive guard for the Kent Roosevelt football team in Kent, Ohio. My father has been the head coach at Roosevelt for over 30 years. Last April, Ryan was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma of his femur- an aggressive and rare form of bone cancer. Up until his diagnosis, Ryan was coveting Division One scholarship offers from top tiered football programs- Pitt, Indiana, Boston College, and Ohio state, just to name a few. The Kent football team and community has adopted the "NEVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN" slogan to honor Ryan this football season. His team elected him captain although he will never play another down of football. Ryan is an inspirational presence on the sidelines for everyone. My dad nominated Ryan for the "Rudy Award," a national search and scholarship for an outstanding young football player and leader. Please follow the link below and you can read about Ryan and vote for him!

    better explanation for Ryan

Sorry, I was not exactly sure how the previous post would show up on the wall.

So to further explain, the link to Ryan's story is at the bottom of the previous post.

He is a Senior football player who was being courted by many Division I colleges and surely would have received a full scholarship to play football. He also carries a 3.4 GPA.

Before this season began he was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and is currently in treatment. The team voted him captain and he has been an inspiration to not only the team but the community as well.

    Thank you
