Anyone familiar with the RectorSeal line of boiler /steam additives for surging and cleaning boilers? Any recommendations?

Cleaning is good, surging is bad

So wouldn't you want an additive that's for cleaning and against surging? :)

But, seriously, I've never heard anyone really knowledgeable recommend any kind of additive that you would leave in the boiler, other than for pH adjustment where the pH is unusually low. Some recommend cleaning products for cleaning and skimming, but these are usually generic products like washing soda, and you drain and rinse the boiler when you're done.

Solutes tend to raise the boiling point of water, which makes it cost more to make steam.

    Agree with Hap

We don't like to leave anything but water in a steam system after a cleaning .

We use Rectorseal's 8-Way . Mild cleaner and additive that does a great job breaking up alot of crud that's in the system , to be flushed out of the return purge valve .

This is one of the cleaners that change the color of the water when it's working . So on a new install we purge the returns first with the cleaner in the system , then skim the boiler till the color of the water is clear of the additive .
