Erie Pop Top Bad?
Turkey
Member Posts: 1
10 year old Erie VT2343G13A02A0F malfunctioning? No resistance on slide lever on the unit. Thermostat for zone does not start boiler. Questions:
1. do I need to drain the boiler to replace the control valve?
2. Is the valve sweated to the copper pipe?
3. If the new valve needs to be sweated are there couples and control valves that can be
screwed in for easy replacement? What fittings and control valve would I need?
thanks tom

If there is no resistance, then the head is opening, but the end switch could be bad. You can replace just the head without draining, or plumbing, but you have to buy the zone valve complete, or so I have found. Locate the end switch terminals, and give it a quick jump. If no reaction from the boiler, it aint the zone valve.0
