Adsco vents

I live in a 1918 Dutch Colonial house with a two-pipe steam system. I am having trouble balancing my system due to inoperable steam valves. They are Adsco brand 90 degree valves with a wood turned handle on the top. They are attached to 3/4" pipe. What are some suitable replacements for these vents so I can replace them and hopefully balance my heating? Also, is there any reasonable method for zoning steam heat?
