Steam Boiler - Not firing up

I have been having some trouble with I thought the thermostat, replaced today hoping it would resolve the problem of the boiler not firing.  The pilot is lit, water supply & power supply are good.  I can hear it click when adjusting the thermostat in attempt to get the boiler to fire but it does not.  Suggestions on what else can be checked?

Avoid changing out parts without knowing why. You'll save a lot of money. Could be a number of different things going on. What clicks? The thermostat or the boiler?

    possibilities...

You should check the thermocouple first.  This is usually the first and most likely item to fail.  Thermostats are much less likely.  There are a string of other things in series in the circuit too, such as one or two low water cut offs, a high pressure cut out, and of course the gas valve.

If you don't have the basic knowledge on how to individually testing these items, you would be money ahead to call a pro.

    step one

get a copy of the wiring diagram first.  never travel in uncharted waters without a map.

    overflow switch

Try pushing the reset button on the overflow switch(that's the thingy on the flue pipe opening). If the boiler fires TURN IT OFF ASAP and call a chimney expert.
