Heat Loss Calculations

I'm going to install inlet orifices on my steam radiators. I'm going to size the orifices for actual room heat loss rather than the radiators EDR's. I still have accurate room-by-room heat GAIN calculations from an air conditioning installation. Are heat gain and heat loss calculations effectively the same thing?

Loss
Heat gain measures how much heat enters the building when the outdoor temperature is above the indoor temperature. Heat loss measures how much heat leaves the building when indoor temp is above outdoor temperature. Not the same thing. you need to do heat loss calculations. There was an error rendering this rich post.
