Radiant makes "pinging" noise

I have been asked to assist in a troubleshooting game: A Rehau radiant system was installed using heat transfer plates. When the system is heating up, a metallic pinging noise (metal on metal maybe) is heard. Not ticking or expansion as I would immediately suspect, unless the expansion can create this strange noise, which is heard randomly all around the home. Has anyone come across this type of noise before?

Heard it before.
I have heard this noise before on HO installed underfloor plates. Uponor (Wirsbo) recommends a minimum of 1/4" and prefers 1/2" between any two plates. This is to prevent excessive noise caused by expansion of the aluminum during heat/cool cycles.0
