Recommended boiler Cleaner?

I've just done major modifcations to my 12 year old heating system (Weil Mclain boiler) and want to use a cleaner to remove flux, sludge, etc. Any recommendations for an effective and inexpensive cleaner?

    No New Glycol Yet

I'm planning on draining the old glycol tomorrow and hook up the new system. Then I plan on filling the system with water for a few days of normal operation. Then drain it and fill it again with the cleaner/neutralizer. That is what I hear is the correct way to do it. Then drain the system after the recommended time and fill it again with glycol.

    Hercules

Should do what your looking for. Make sure to get a good quality glycol and to check your PH readings each year.

    I like 8-Way

On the real dirty systems I try to flush first with hot water alone . Then drain and add the cleaner with fresh water and let it circulate through all the zones while running hot . Drain and purge and it's like a new system .

    Cleaner

You might want to take a look at Rhomar Water Treatment. http://www.rhomarwater.com/products/residential-hydronic-radiant/  They are good guys to work with.

    Fernox Boiler Cleaner $45/quart

I went to Keller Supply today and they sell Fernox boiler cleaner.

Lowes and Home Depot sell Hercules Boiler Cleaner for about $9.50 but does not say for how many gallons it is good for (website does not say, I didn't go to the store personallY and look at the bottle).

    Description says:

Cleans and fluxes copper piping to provide uniform solder flow.

Formulated to wash residual flux from the piping system.

Ideal for soft solder applications of copper tube and fittings in

    plumbing, HVAC,

    fire sprinkler and other systems.

Compatible with propylene glycol-based antifreeze products and commonly used

    stop-leak compounds.

Silicone additive helps purge dissolved air.

    NSF registered.

    USDA authorized.

I haven't encountered the other two recommendations here in Fairbanks, Alaska yet.
