I"m looking to install a new Beckett Oil burner. I can get free shipping from Grainger:

Is their price ballpark or should I shop around?

    ya know...

i would talk w/ a local oil burner contractor and work out a plan. If something goes wrong w/ that you are 100% on the hook for it. A local oil burner contractor will give you a warranty if you purchase it from him.... Also he will have a better idea of the whole picture w/ your system. Chances are if the burner is shot maybe you should look into a whole new boiler or furnace.... kinda like putting a brand new engine in a 30 yr. old car.

    Submarine Boilers:

It is my understanding that if a boiler goes underwater, it must be replaced, If the burner was submerged, didn't the boiler go for a swwim also?

    Just asking.

    Sorry

I'm sorry I brought up the topic of pricing. I didn't know the rules. It won't happen again.

It is alway's in your best interest to have a system replaced if it is submerged. The chamber and insulation in the system have been damaged and it's possible the boiler is plugged with sediment. Have a pro come in and take care of this before you or your family get hurt from it...You are playing with fire after all...
