Looking to switch from a fin-tube baseboard radiator style to a runtal baseboard radiator.

Anyone made the switch?  Any comment on effectiveness or efficiency?

Also looking for a contractor in New Haven CT area to make the switch from a fin-tube baseboard radiator style to a runtal baseboard radiator.

    Effective

Effectiveness and efficiency all depend on the installing contractor doing a heat loss and complete system design. All done correctly and you have a nice comfortable, efficient system.

    Runtal Radiators

I've changed out baseboard fin-tube to Runtal before, and done all new as well. Comes in two, three, or four panel configuration in stock lengths and connections; but they will build just about anything you want. You can get narrow, tall panels for those short wall spaces, and all kinds of supply/inlet tappings, as well as colors. I've always used the type with fins in back and panels in front, so you get radiant and convective together. Pay attention to the output ratings chart, match them to your heatloss calcs; maybe go overboard a little if using a mod-con boiler. Be prepared for some extra labor and a whole lot of wieght! They work well. Don't ever paint over them with household paint!
