really?
forgive me, but a 72,000 sf second home cannot credibly be described as 'sustainable' or 'energy efficient'.
'Abomination' and environmental catastrophe seems more apt.

I like my 1,200 square foot house just fine. You couldn't pay me to take that house, but I guess some people need more space.8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour
Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab0 -
Space
My house is about 1100 square feet (Cape Cod). I nominally has 4 bedrooms, but one is my photographic darkroom, one is full of model trains and stuff. This one has two computers and lots of books. My living room has a digital piano, a toy piano, 4 large floor-to-ceiling bookcases full of books, and so on. I am glad my house does not have more rooms, even though the place is really full, because if I had more rooms, they would be full too.0 -
Not for me.
I have seen motels smaller than that.0 -

Interesting
I think the OP was looking at it from the viewpoint of a fascination with mechanical systems rather than making a moral judgement on the conspicuous consumptionTo learn more about this professional, click here to visit their ad in Find A Contractor.0 -
Exactly Bob
Would love to be able to see the design and approach. All that mass screams radiant heating and cooling via the geo with solar domestic. Wondering how many mechnical rooms in the house. What's the heat loss, etc.
Guess I was right on the radiant heating and cooling.
