Nice job
now that the owners have seen how well it works, you're going to extend the steam to the new/renovated areas, right? All Steamed Up, Inc.

Where did the balls go? Did they deteriorate or did someone take them out? Kind of odd.
We did a rehab on a Richardson a couple of years ago, but the boiler was left in place. Instead of a trap at the end of the main, we just used vents, with vents on the end of the returns as well. A found two radiators with no traps, and one of those had no valve on the inlet. And that one was piped in copper too! We left the copper (customer didn't want the expense to replace it and it wasn't leaking) and used a ball valve for the inlet. Adjusted the valve slowly and removed the handle when we were done. Seemed to work well. Used #17 traps for the outlets on those 2 rads.
Was the old Richardson main vent still there?0 -
RICHARDSON VALVE
Really nice work. It's good to see that there are still some contractors who care about the old systems and are willing to go the extra step to fix what's in place. Most simply remove and replace with something new.
I have an old Richardson valve on one of the radiators in my Broomell System. If you need it I'll swap for a Broomell Vapor valve.
Has your customer done any comparisons to the old heating bills. They should be saving quite a bit of money.0 -
oil
With our customer we did the work in January 2009. In 2008 they used 2035 gallons, in 2009 they used 1488. Nice savings.0
