I realize this seems pretty stupid question but i want to convert from a one pump pulling to 3 pumps pushing on a gas boiler. Can i take out the flanges and put in 2 nipples and a 1 1/4 union? Thanks

unions REQUIRED on return...
Personally, I think that if a person doesn't know how to properly cut, thread and solder pipe they shouldn't be messing with the pipe, and unions look like Velcro to the week end warrior. But the code does require unions on both sides of the boiler. Pump flanges are considered a means of disconnect (union).
