Hi I am a pipefitter and have seen a lot of hydronic loops hooked up to steam boilers but have never installed one from scratch. Is it legal to put one in, as far as pulling a permit to install it. Does anyone know??

heat loop on steam boiler
It depends on where you are. No issues with codes that I am aware of. Here in Maine we have full licensing and permitting but rarely do we need a permit to add a zone to an existing boiler. Check with your local code authority if you have on in your town.0
