can anybody help me find the codes for this new residential sheetmetal stuff.how much flex can be used, insulation values etc.

SMACNA Upside the head.
SMACNA promulgates the sheet metal standards for the industry, I would start there. If it is an actual code versus a reference standard issue, most states subscribe to the IBC and by extension the IMC and the IECC (International Energy Conservation Code). I am not sure where the residential portions are broken out nor am I sure that this helps you. But your local SMACNA chapter would be where I would start."If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"
