we are in the process of replacing a commercial electric water heater.while getting prices from our local distributor, there was a major price differance in an asme certified tank and one of the same manufacture that was not asme certified.does anyone know when an asme certified tank is needed? this is an 80 gallon heater for replacement not new construction.thank you.

Commercial ASME
I believe that if the tank is going to go in a building where the heater will be used in a commercial application, insurance and codes require that the tank be built and certified to ASME specifications. Non ASME tanks are cheaper. But ASME rated may be required.0
