baseboard enclosure design compatibility

I am working on a home rehab project that includes replacing old slant-fin fineline baseboard. The elements are in good shape but the enclosures are not. I wanted to use these existing slant-fin elements in Hayden brand enclosures that I already have. I noticed that they fit (rest on the bracket cradles) fine except they leave about a quarter inch extra space (than the Hayden elements would) between the rear of the fins and the back of the Hayden enclosure. Would this extra space significantly reduce the convective efficiency of this "hybrid" installation? Thanks!!!
