water line on steam boiler

I am having a problem with the water line on a relatively new steam boiler installation. This problem happens with the vacuum system on or off. When the steam boiler(gas fired) first goes into low fire (until the boiler reaches 140 deg. ) Then goes to high fire, the water line goes from normal to all the way to the top of the sightglass and becomes erratic. When the boiler satisfies in hi fire and shuts down, the water level drops immediately, brings on the condonsate pumps and the boiler goes off on LWCO. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!
Thanks in advance for any help, SERVICEWIZ

erratic water line
Try cleaning and skimming the boiler. Sounds like a classic dirty water scenario. The water in the glass may look clean, but......0 -
new boiler erratic water line
skimming would be a good move in this situation.
check that pressure as well with a good low-pressure gauge, so you know whether the pressure control settings accurately reflect the pressure. so many time the control is not feeling the real pressure, and yet the owner quotes the settings, not knowing the real pressure. in a new boiler instalklation, there can be all sorts of debris, clogging up the pigtail, and preventing the control from operating properly.--nbc0
