Asbestos in burner chamber?
Crisscross

A panel of white insulation material fell from the side of the burner chamber on top of the burner pipes. It is a 2006 Smith GB 250-6 boiler. Of course that happens after office hours of the boiler manufacturer. Should I expect this stuff to be asbestos? I tried to push it back in place and it broke in the middle. I guess paper tape is not going to hold it back together. Is it safe to operate the boiler without the insulation panel or is there a qick fix for one night?
Thanks,
Xoph

Its NOT...
asbestos. It is a ceramic fiber. Still it is not stuff to mess around with a lot..... depaening on how much fell out you are most likely ok. That is a dry base boiler. kpc0 -
Thanks so much,
I will put on some protective gloves and a P-100 HEPA mask and take the pieces out of the chamber. This piece was on the side and above the access panel. I think with a mirror I should get a look of the inside and see if there is a way to hold the pieces in place until tomorrow. Thank you again!0
