I would like to install a buffer tank in a customers house to prevent short cycling.
How is a buffer tank sized?
Thank you

Here is formula
If Mod/Con:
Lowest boiler firing rate - smallest zone = btu's surplus
btu's surplus x desired min run time (usually 10 minutes) = cycle factor
cycle factor / (delta T x 500) = tank size
Example:
75,000 btu mod con boiler with 3:1 turn down and 5,000btu smallest zone, 20 degree delta T
25,000 - 5,000 = 20,000 surplus
20,000 x 10 = 200,000
200,000 / 10,000 = 20 gal tank0
