I was just looking at JFL's latest post. http://www.heatinghelp.com/forum-thread/135071/Question-for-NY-Steamers-re-low-pressure-gauge The dropped loop trap seal looks a lot better for the installation of dual pressure limit devices. It appears to be more bulletproof than a traditional pigtail.
I am thinking about building one, and am looking for suggestions and photo's of how some of you would build in the gauges to this type of arrangement.

not my perferred way
Hello Crash even though i have seen it done that way also i would rather have seen a cross tee where the elbow is and a 12 inch nipple raising the whole assemble higher with another cross tee and then the 3/4 x 1/4 tees for the pressure trolls and gauges .This way checking and flushing out the assemble is done very easily and quickly. You would of course need brass pigtails to protect the pressure trolls. All this is of course more then what the manufactures recommend or suggest but for myself if i am going to be married to a install then i am going to do it so first off it easy to clean and ensure to myself that i won't have a nuisance service call later.Peace and good luck clammyR.A. That is what Weil McLain likes
I do not. It is a cheap imitation of a proper pigtail.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

here is mine. i tried snubbers on the uprights, under the pigtails; however removed them because i thought they were "snubbing" too much, causing a slow response.
the mass of water in the horizontal, plus the pigtails seems to even things out.
the unions will allow me to dismantle for cleaning pretty easily.--nbc0
