Steam Boiler Keeps Filling Up...
I have a Utica SFH7275ST boiler. Steam system.
Turned it on this winter and it began knocking loudly.
Checked the sightglass, it was full and dripping.
Drained the system back down to the line, turned off all incoming valves and waited.
2 hours later system was almost full again.
Pulling my hair out as this has been going on for weeks.
Drain it... it fills etc etc etc. How is it getting more water into the system???
Anyone? Please enlighten me. I am baffled.

leaky hot water coil?
If your domestic hot water comes off this steam boiler the coil might be leaking inside the boiler. If not i suspect the water fill valve does not tirn off compleately.

Thanks for the insight, Bob
I had suspicions that the domestic hot water coil may be leaking.
The water had to come from somewhere!
However, I know little about the schematic of this boiler. I thought if the coil were leaking I would see water on the floor. Guess it just leaks right into the boiler.
Gonna call the HVAC guy tomorrow. Can you give me an idea/ballpark of what I may be looking at $$ in terms of getting this fixed? Again, Bob, thank you for the information. This forum has been very helpful.0 -
Not cheap
I don't have a hot water coil on my boiler so i can't say what they cost but it ain't gonna be cheap.
Also this board has a rule about not discussing pricing where labor is involved.
