Burnham boiler making rattling noise

I have a Burnham kv73 oil burner. Recently it has started making a
rattling type noise from inside the boiler. It is not coming from the
motor on the outside or the circuilator pump, it's from somewhere
actually inside the boiler.
The noise transfers through the water
pipes in the house and you can hear it very well on my main floor.
When the boiler is running and you're standing right next to it, it's
hard hear with the boiler going. But if I hit the switch to shut off
the boiler, the rattling noise will be apparent then, and actually keep
making the noise for about 60 seconds after the whole system has been
shut off. It seems to be heat related... It doesn't start making the
noise for a couple minutes when it starts up cold.
I've been
doing some internet reading, it seems these are prone to leaking from
cracks. I don't have any water leaks that I can see, and the system
holds pressure. The boiler was made in 1998.
Has anyone had this
problem, or does anyone know where I start disassembling this to
investigate more? My local heating/cooling shop only seems to like to
replace complete units instead of actually repairing, so I don't even
want to call them.
thanks in advance, Greg

is there a ...
tankless coil inside? I have has that happen to some boilers where the coil rattles during operation....kpc0 -
check
your flue collector, remove the smoke pipe and look inside, check the side clean outs, possible flow check, or chunk of solder in piping? A crack wouldn't make a noise, just water on the floor0
