whats s/s on a carlin burner

in Oil Heating
i  am assumeing it  the service man switch  because looks like in series  before  the primary  but i read the  whole contol book  was never mentioned , in school  now  taking  state test in two weeks  wiring  still messes with me little  so many differant ways to set  up controls

    That's probably it

    the service switch, then the limit controls and finally the primary.
