How Can I, Suggestions Welcome

I'm mounting my near boiler piping on a board and I'm not sure how to mount the expansion tank. I DO NOT want to hang it from the piping I want it mounted to the board. I've looked in a few catalogs for tank mounts or something to use. No luck. As last resort I'll strap it to the board using some kind of metal band like a big plumber strap. I would like to find something that looks like a real big muffler clamp. The tank is a #30, tomorrow I'm going to check out a couple supply houses and see if they have anything. Just like to find if there is anything out there for this application. Thanks

Unistrut
a 10" IPS strut pipe clamp with an extra long (2") clamping bolt works like a chance. 1 for a number 30 tank, or 2 for larger ones.

Me too
I cut an 18 inch piece of strut and attach it too a wall with washers behind it so I can pass a thin 3 foot long hose clamp behind it and attach the tank to the strut. I sleep well knowing it won't break the pipe and flood the basement where it's located. I always point the water connection up if I can. I've been told it extends the life of the diaphram inside the tank to have no air trapped against it. The directions that come with the tank say it works any direction, but I think they might just want to sell more tanks. Perhaps I'm a cynic.0 -
one thing I do....
is to use a pex drop ear 90 and run barrier pex from the near boiler piping to a location out of the way. I prefer the 3 eared ones so that is has some beef to it. kpc0 -
Flexconsole expansion tank bracket
Rich,
See the Flexconsole expansion tank mounting bracket at www.dutchtechusa.com
Less than $30 and should fit your application well.0 -
Thanks
Thanks, for all the suggestions, Though I bought a large pipe hanger from my supplier, I'm going to use a peice on unistrut and some long hose clamps. Though I really liked that tank hanger, I couldn't find where to buy it and the company only sold in lots of 10. So Thanks again.

A seismic strap for a 40gal water heater
should also work. Much stronger than hose clamps, convenient adjustments, etc. Ideally you'd take a 2x4 and carve out (jig saw) a seat for the tank to clamp against; screw the seat to the backer board. You also need a drill and bit to put a mounting hole in the right place on each strap to bolt it to the wall (or something) and some snips to lose the unneeded strap length. About $15 the last time I looked at an invoice.
