T-T prestige
is a great boiler. Stainless steel hx very simple. wall hung easy to wire, vent setup etc. I have one in my house and have dropped my gas bill by 60 dollars a month and we're using 30% more degree days this winter....I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. There was an error rendering this rich post.

TT Challanger new boiler
The TT Challanger is a new boiler just coming to market. I do not think they shipped any yet. The Prestige Solo & Prestige Excellence and the new Challanger are very different boilers.

bump
Now that its been a couple months, I wonder if anyone has opinions about the Challenger boiler yet?
We've been fans of the Prestige Solo and Excellence and I haven't actually seen the Challenger yet, but I'm curious what others are finding?

ACV or not?
I have heard that ACV is not making the new Challenger boiler.
Also, I have heard that there is a new main control for the Prestige. Does that mean ACV is no longer TT big brother?
Just curious.:NYplumber:0 -

Took It Apart Yesterday
I had the pleasure to visit Triangle yesterday to take it apart and go through it. Boiler is made in the Netherlands and imported here. It is a alum block boiler with copper coils on the backside that see boiler/water heater water. Boiler can be run as a Water Heater Only, Boiler Only or as a Combination Unit. It has both ratings as a boiler and as a water heater.
Think of a square piece of alum that the burner fires into and the heat from the alum is exchanged to the copper. The block only sees flue gas condensation not boiler water. The domestic tubing is about 3/8" and as I pointed out you need to take the same pre-cautions as with a tankless. Scale filters in my opinon would be a must on the domestic side as well as yearly maintenace and flushing. The burner is rectangular about 4 inches wide by 12 inches long. It was simple to access the HX and is service friendly.
You must also use the domestic mixing valves in all DHW applications and your DHW temp in the boiler must match the setting on the Mix Vlv. So, even if your only making 120 degree water you still need the mix valve and it would be set to 120 degrees. Think of the mix valve as high limit water protection as that copper coil is getting heated up on a heating call. All the ratings for DHW are based on a 77 degree rise.
This boiler has a place in homes with very small demand when combination heating and hot water is needed. Another home would be Apart Complexes and similiar applications. I'm not sold on using it as a boiler only as its price point when compared to others with better HX's is available.
Just my thoughts from having the ability to touch and feel it. Thanks for the hospitality Triangle Tube. There was an error rendering this rich post.

New Prestige
ACV is still the Parent company for the Presitge. The new control is still a Honeywell Product. They did find a new provider of the HX which they changed a little bit. Made it a little beefier. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Challenger boiler
This was my first install for the Challenger. Come June I believe there changing the exaust to a two pipe fresh air in and exaust out. A little tight to get every thing to fit off the boiler.0 -
nice looking
Nice work . I like the use of webstone P/S T pump flange combo. What's up with the monster pump on the primary, do they spec this? I don't like small boilers that demand that kind of head just to push the required flow through the HX.
So many new boilers out these days it's hards to know what's best, on the combi front I like the idea of units that include a pump and expansion tank, anybody see the new Rinnai boilers?0 -

Webstone flange
Thats a nice addition to a clean boiler piping.
Can someone state the benefits of the Challenger vs the competitions combi boilers?
I have always been a TT fan due to their HX & simplicity of controls. However, if the HX isn't of the self cleaning variety, I may be more inclined to look into the competition.:NYplumber:0 -

Thanks for the compliment -The Webstone manifold and pump came with the boiler. I thought it was kinda over sized as well.0 -
Triangle Challenger Combo vs Baxi
We are planning to replace boiler in aprtment building in NYC. The area of units is around 1000 sq ft or less. We are looking for combination hot water and heat and wall mount boiler to save space and utility bill. Triangle Challenger Combo or Triangle Prestige Excellence or Baxi Luna HT boiler are under consideration now, but hard to choose. Please give us some recomments. Thanks.0 -
vent
Thank to share, how does the boiler work so far, is the hot water is enough? How the vent set up? It looks like using one pipe (maybe another pipe inside it, like baxi luna boiler?)0 -

It has been a ....
year or so since they brought this boiler to market. The biggest complaint is the hot water output... not good at all on the small models. They brought out the Challenger Solo few months back. For those that have installed these...How have they been? Callbacks? What is there to watch out for? Would you install many of them? How is the combustion set up?ty,kpc0 -
TT Challenger combi boiler water heater
The TT Challenger Boilers deliver the following on the domestic hot water side. CC105 delivers 2.5 GPM & CC125 delivers 3 GPM. If using these boilers I would use Alsons now Delta 1.6 GPM shower heads. With these boilers you should be able to run back to back to back showers one at a time and never run out of hot water. Watch out if you have hard water use a water softener or Cuno Aquapure AP430 filter before the unit. I have the TT PE110 in my house with the 14 gallon stainless steel IDWH and I can run two showers with 1.6 GPM shower heads and I have no trouble with hot water. With either of these boilers you are not going to fill a whirlpool. If you need more domestic hot water use their TT Prestige Solo boiler with their Smart SS IDWH.0 -
Thanks Bob...
I am also interested in the heating side... any lockouts? heating issues? How many are using them and would you install another ?0 -
TT boilers
Your contractor can get you a 5 or 10 year parts and labor warranty on the Triangle Tube boilers. If the contractor does not have a parts kit his local wholesaler should that way they will have access to most common parts fast. We have been selling them for five or six years and not many parts were sold.0 -
I'm the contractor....
before I commit to installing and servicing this bad boy I want to know what I am getting into. The last thing i want to get into is a "Glowcore" situation that has both the customer and me wishing that I had never heard of the product...0 -
Triangle tube
