Low pressure

Is it possible for the pressure in the boiler to be to low ? When our boiler was installed, we had water hammer and spitting vents so the guy who serviced it down fired the boiler and now it doesn`t go over 1# of pressure so the pressuretrol won`t cycle. Should I leave it alone or increase the nozzle size slightly. The pressuretrol was originally set at 2# & 4#.

I guess it's possible for our pressure to be too low
Maybe so low that it was impossible to heat the house. Mine runs at .07 psi., most of the time, and heats the house well. If I shut it down for the day, for repair, then turn it back on, the first cycle pressures up over 2 psi.
How well is yours heating the house? What model of boiler do you have?0 -
heats the house
I have a burnam V84S. It heats the house alright but the only time it cycles is when it shuts down on the low water test cycle.0 -
Leave it alone
If the house heats evenly without hammer or spitting vents, leave it alone. The best way to accomplish low pressure operation is by matching the steam capability of the boiler to the radiation. This is what you seem to have now.
The pressuretrol is a high limit device, and should not necessarily be cycling during normal operation.0
