online I found L408A 1090 which I believe is the mercury version of
L408J 1017.

used vaporstats
if they are not "new in the box" from a real supply company, then i would buy at least two so you will be more likely to have at least one which sort of works. have a look at pex supply for new.--nbc0 -
used
If it's used. Why was it removed? Does it work properly. Will you have the problems the guy who tried to salvage one from the garbage did. If it's off a working boiler that was replaced maybe worth the effort. We usually don't replace them if they are working properly. So used, could mean problems. You need to ask why it was taken off and where it came from. We salvage pressuretrols when we change boilers from oil to gas. Vapor stats usually don't come OEM so usually get reused if good.0 -
vapor
Looks like an ebay item. They say its new but who knows.0 -
The L408A1090
has a range of 0-4 PSI and a differential of 0-16 ounces. Depending on what you have it may work OK, but if you need to stay below 1 PSI it's not the best choice.
The mercury version with a range of 0-16 ounces is L408A1132, and the non-mercury replacement is L408J1009.All Steamed Up, Inc.

vaporstat
Thanks for the input. I guess the question is how would I know if I was better off with a vaporstat that read in ounces or one that read in pounds?
I was looking to source out the old mercury ones because I have read at the wall
many negative reviews regarding their accuracy.0 -
0-4 lb for most systems
FWIW I picked up a NOS 0-4lb mercury bulb vaporstat on ebay a couple of years ago and it's worked fine ever since i installed it. Right now my cutout is 12 oz and my cutin is 4oz. The operating pressure is off from what I have it set for but it is very consistent in operation and that's all I care about.
If you had a vapor system the 16oz version would be the way to go but for a normal steam system the 4 lb version seems the way to go in my opinion.
