Repair Heat Timer Varivents

Is it possible to repair Heat Timer Varivents? Is there some way to open them up and repair them?

Also, is there some way to test them? to see if they open and close as they should?

thanks

    no repairs

No way to repair them.  If they fail, throw them away.  Maybe, in the opinion of many, go to a different brand.

To test them, you want to make sure they are open when cold.  You should be able to blow through it very easily.  To see if it will close, you just about have to apply steam to it.  When the steam gets to the vent, it should quickly close, no steam should blow through.  In my experience, right as they close, they will ge a little noisy, and might spit out a drop of condensate.
