Burnham Boiler Q

Have a Burnham IN5 gas fired boiler. Looked in the installation manual and do not see any way to install a skimming port. Tried calling Burnham to ask about this but they hung up on me because I am not a licensed plumber.

Is the only way to clean the water of contaminates to drain it from the drain valve? Wont this leave residue on the sidewalls of the boiler? How do you know if the boiler is trult clean?

    IN 5 Skim Port

Hi Steve- Look on page 6 of the I&O manual. There is a one inch skim port marked with the letter "L" on the diagram.  It's plugged at the factory so depending on the age of your boiler might be a bit of a "bear" to get open. You might want to leave that to a pro.

Another possibility would be using the Safety Valve port. Remove the safety and skim from that port.
