Hi all. my current project was to upgrade my undersize radiator. I went out an purchased a good sized radiator but the issue now is that the newer radiator being that its bigger, wont connect directly to the supply valve coming from the ground.

Can i add an elbow and slant it towards the supply valve so that the condensate will flow back down to the boiler?

what other alternatives are there?

like an idiot, i sold my older radiator so now i have a room without heat... i sleep in this room too... any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated..

thanks!

    you need to....

get a new union and /or and valve w/ the spud on it. Generally speaking they are not uniform. they should be readily available at either a supply house or a good hardware store.

    thanks

Thanks, sorry, but what is a spud

to be clear, the supply valve is 4" from the wall coming from the ground up.

my old radiators was only 2 columns deep so i was able to connect the two,

now, with a bigger radiator (5 tubes deep), the two wont fit without some extra fittings, like ells and unions. This wont cause hammering would it?

    Thanks

    here is a ...

picture. The part that goes into the radiator is the spud.

    Spuds/Repair:

    Henry,

If that is your situation and that's photos of what you are doing, it won't work. You are in over your head. You need someone who knows more than you so. There isn't anything about what you are trying to do that will work.
