Member Posts: 2
I am a plumbing & heating contractor that has returned to the east coast after 20 years in the CO mountains. I an very comfortable with boilers and hot water / radiant floor heat, but need to learn as much as possible about steam. More specifically 2 pipe steam. I have a house with some rooms cooking and some cold.
Where to start??
Thanks!

Steam Books
Hi- Welcome to the world of steam heating! With your experience you'll find steam very easy to learn though there are a lot of things about steam that defy nature logic, such as, steam systems work better the lower you can get the pressure. There are some very good books available on this website on steam. I would suggest you get 3 books that are offered in a package. Read "We Got Steam Heat !" first as it gives you the basics and the terminology and then progress to "The Lost Art of Steam Heating". Here's a link to the package:

These books are easy, humorous reading and packed full of info and diagrams on steam heating. There is also a lot of information on steam heating in what is know as "Off the Wall" in the Resources section at the top of this page.
