Happy Holidays guys, I'm looking to purchasing a Metal Cutting Chop saw, I have a Dewalt abrasive chop saw and I think its time to upgrade, I'm looking at an Evolution or maybe a Porter Cable. Evolution looks like they have a few different saws to choose from, I'm looking for a saw to cut through Kindorf (strut) No-Hub Cast Iron, threaded rod, angle iron, etc, thanks for any input,

    Chop Saw's

What's wrong with the DeWalt? With the right abrasive blade, you should be able to cut anything.

The cold cut saws are sweet

I am still to cheap to buy one but have used them a couple times and they are amazing. Make sure to wear goggles. low sparks and a blade that just keeps cutting. pipe barely warms up too. And almost as fast as cutting wood. It is on my wish list for sure.
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

    Got one!

I bought  Milwaukee 6190-20 cold cut saw about two years ago and love it! I bought it online for about $350. I don't recall from where though. The cuts are perfect and smooth. I still prefer my abrasive cutoff saw for PVC though.

    Saws

Nothing wrong with the abrasive machine Ice (although I do  have to replace the  trigger switch), I actually love it and have been using it for close to 10 years now , I have seen the demos for the cold cutting machines with no sparks, cool to the touch, etc,  and have heard alot of positive things about the saws, I will definitely keep my Dewalt Chop box, but I am always looking for a good reason to upgrade and it is part of my X-Mas gift from my wife :),  I did try to convince her to by me a Ridgid Pressing Tool, but it looks like the Chop Saw will win the bid...

    Pvc cutting

That is one of the questions I had about the cold cut saws Adam, would it do as good of a job square cutting pvc/cpvc? or will it shatter? thanks for your post, I looked at the Milwaukee as well, looks like a great machine, quite a few to choose from...

    We used these

when I worked for a sprinkler outfit that did prefab in the shop. They work well but are definably not mobile

    Right brand, wrong saw....

DeWalt makes a tool called a Multi Cutter. It does everything you want, and more.

I was cutting 4" sched 40 steel pipe with it, like buttah....

    Great tool.

    My Mistake

I confused "cold cut technology" for a true cold cut saw.

They have the Milwaukee version at the supply house to cut lengths in half and they cut everything with it. Copper,Stainless, PVC..... seems to work well.

    I always prefer Milwaukee tools

they seem to take a beating better. and if nothing else our tools do go through a lot even when we treat them carefully. but for the two saws I would say both would make for a better days work. Make sure if cutting you use the vise! If the blade jams it is not cheap to replace. This is not the type of tool to us without paying full attention to it.

    Dewalt

I had my eye on that saw as well Mark, I was looking at that one or the one that Porter Cable has, but then I  stumbled across the Evolution Saw, and its offered for a cheaper price, any experience with Evolution Saws?
