we are renovating an apartment for mother in law,one of the rooms has three walls facing the outside.dan says to make the loops a little closer on the perimeter walls.my problem is ,is that we are putting a kitchen against one of the walls and the tubing isnt suppposed to go under the cabinets, the room is about 25'x20'.do you think the tubing will give of enough heat.is it really a big no no to but tubing under the cabinets.thanks

    Radiant

First thing, are you putting the radiant in concrete, or is it a staple up job. With a staple up job your limited to the spacing in your bays, usually 8" on center.  As far as cabinets go, It won't hurt under the cabinets. You want to stay away from places you store food: onions, potatos, bread. You also want to stay away from where you might put a fridge.

Did You Do A Heat Loss?

The amount of tubing needed is going to be predicated by the heat loss. If you can overcome the loss at 12" on center then you don't need to worry about your loops having closer centers at the perimeter. When calculating the needed tubing you need to take away the floor square footage in the area that is not seeing tubing. You then overcome that by raising water temperature.

Basically without the heat loss and proper radiant design your just guessing.

There was an error rendering this rich post.
