MAIN VENTS

Hello, I have a single pipe steam system with 11/2" main's and 1 1/4" risers. It is broken into two zones above the boiler.
Zone 1 is 80' long with risers going to 3 1st. floor radiators and 2 second floor radiators.
Zone 2 is 60' long with risers going to 1 second floor radiator and 4 1st. floor radiators, 2 have long risers into crawl spaces.
I want to get the main vents working corectly.
I need to know how many (Gorton #2 or other) vents to install on each 3/4" X 6" riser at the end of each zone.
Thank you very much, Jim
P.S. I ordered a bunch of Dan's books but it will take me a long time to find the answers to this.

Others here have pointed me to this.

I have not yet looked at it but it seems to be what you could use.0 -
Balancing Steam Systems
If you are planning to re-do the venting, the handbook below will invaluable. It will tell you the specs of all the different vents, also show you exactly how to calculate how much air you have to remove. Usually you can order it tonight and download it tomorrow. How many to use depends on, how long it takes your system, to send steam down the main to an open 3/4 "pipe (no vent) just wide open. If you build an antler for 3 vents per side that will get you close.
