Top Floor Radiator is too hot!

Have a gas hydronic radiator heating system. Tenant in the 3rd floor bedroom(the top floor) is complaining that the radiator (only one on 3rd floor) is red hot and the room is 85 degrees. The rest of the radiators in the 3-story house are warm, thermostat (on first floor) is set at 65F. The Weil-McLain furnace is located in the basement and the system has a circulator. The system psi is reading around 25. Radiators were bled before start of the heating season. What would cause this? Never had this problem at the property since we owned it (over 5 years) - usually the 3rd floor would be the coldest. Let me know your thoughts...

    Check the flow

Check the radiation on the lower floors . Was the valve partially closed on this radiator in the past or has someone throttled (partially closed) valves on the lower floors. You could start by checking for air in all the other radiators first. Air usually rises but I have seen it get caught in radiators on lower floors.

If nothing else shows to be the problem close the valve partially or have a TRV (thermostatic radiator valve) installed.

    Also check the circulator

it may have quit working. This would explain why the hottest water rose, by gravity, to the third floor.

    Thanks

Thanks for the heads up Steamhead. Something to keep tucked in my head might need it someday. Especially on the old converted gravity systems.
