New Controls installed and working great!

Hey Now!

Just wanted too say that even after several posts and no help given I was able to

do my own homework and research via the internet and reading PDF's to corectly

install my own R8184, C554A, and L4006H.  My old Ideal standard 1941 5 stage

boiler and beckett AF burner are humming like a champ, oh and I also had to

replace my 2721 628 ignition transformer.  Again thanks heating help for providing

me zero help!  Like the old saying goes, if you want something done you got

to do it all by yourself!  Ahh 180 degrees with 15PSI nice and warm and no

more faulty stack relay.  Advice to the smart doers of the world dont be

intimidated, save the money, do your own homework, this aint rocket science!!!

Safety always taken into consideration

Thanks for the advice, just an FYI I've already done the safety checks i.e pulled the cad cell leads and it shut down, also jumpered the FF terminals just for fun.  I also turned my aquastat down after my heat went to 180 degrees and it shut right down.  I also shut the oil off while it was running, and it shut right down, and I hit the lock out on my R8184, and it shut down.  WOW I did all this after I did the install, and found out online from a Honeywell tech manual about how to be a safe oil burner man without going to school! Daamn Im good.  Not your ordinary HARRY homeowner here brother!  Safety 3rd LOL!  Thanks for the advice I had already done all you suggested and more, as I said this aint ROCKET SCIENCE!  LOL!!!

Also forgot to mention that I am an access control technician and very familiar with relays and controls for door access etc, so these controls are very basic to me, and safety goes w/o saying as I have no desire to call the fire dept.  Some would just install and hope for the best but I do my do diligence and then proceed, but if you're smart, and don't assume but study first then you can do this, I am proof...  But when in doubt call someone and be prepared to shuck out some $$$$$$$!  I coulda been a heating tech contender!!!

and the responses you got, it would appear to me that you got what you paid for.



We have no way of knowing who is a rocket scientist and who is not.



So, now that you have it up and running, have you performed a combustion analysis on it? If not, you are not done. If you don't test, you don't know, and are playing Russian Roulette with the lives (including yours) around you.



Congratulations on getting your dinosaur running. Very few people have the skill set that you do, and giving open advice on the internet to just anyone can be a dangerous proposition. Just because you have the right part numbers doesn't mean you know how to properly install the controls, and if done incorrectly, you could have a run away boiler that could do a lot of damage.
