The information appears to be from a home inspector.
See if you can spot how many mistakes the home inspector has in only a few paragraphs regarding steam system maintenance.
Some of those mistakes could be dangerous.

Steamhead,

You were smart in that you stopped reading when you did ,,,,, :-)

hmmmm
.
The worst part is that there are people who listen the guys like this !!!, i had to back and retest a set up be cause the "home inspector" looked in the draft reg and said " it not running right and needs to be serviced" boy did we have a nice discussion over the phone ;-)0 -
I sent them an email
I also included a link to this thread. So if they take the time to read it and come here lets have something constructive for them. Is that not by the PM publisher?Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

This is insane....
I'll bet the guy that wrote that has more money than me, too.
Just saying.
Can you imagine where the heck the info in that article might've come from?

Yep it's the same one
But in a different place. Somebody send them another e mail.. the feedback link is at the bottom of their page.0 -
is it publicly available ...
or was it somehow pulled out of google cache or backdoor'ed?
yeah this guy's got a few things horribly wrong, but in some area's he's at least close ..
i am concerned now that my fiberglass insulation on a 215degF pipe might pose a significant fire hazard ... NOT!1-pipe Homeowner - Queens, NYC

not cached or backdoor'd
I put the title of the article into Google and it was the second link in the results. the first was the original article, which is no longer there. It looks like another location on their web site.
So, if you Google the right words, you can find it.
It's got me worried that all the effort I put in to getting my p-trol to cut out at 1 pound of pressure was for naught because a steam system should operate at 2 to 10 pounds.
[edit]
And if you put the title into Google, Google does have a cache of the original article

It is a concern
It scares me that some homeowners will see that page, and think that they should follow that advice because it is from a "professional".
If some one flushes theri LWCO once a month with the boiler off, they could be the next fire we see on the 6:00 news.
Ans so much more,,,,,,0
