radiator enclosures

I have some 3/4 inch thick wood radiator enclosures with perforated sheet metal fronts and solid top and sides. Would it be worth the effort to add hinges to the top so that it can be opened to say a 45 degree angle to allow the heated air to escape more easily? Would it be even better to replace the perforated sheet metal fronts with shutters to direct the heated air out? Sizzlaw.

Open the enclosure
I would cut out the sides and put the same perforated sheet in them. I would also put slots in the top with a saw or router. You are going to get tired of opening the top or simply forget.0 -
