Can anyone explain this illusion, assuming there's no trickery here. it's all in the angle of perception?

very neat!
Thanks for sharing this. I suspect it works the same way as a normal perspective drawing of a cube works--the brain interprets certain angles and other cues as "meaning" 3D. I think the same sort of trickery is at work in the Ames room illusion.There was an error rendering this rich post.
