Temperature logger

Hey all,
Now that it's getting cold again I've taken up an old project from last year: outfitting my boiler and pipes with some temperature probes to measure how things work. One thing Naturally, I want to track when the burner is on, and it would be easiest to do this with another temperature probe. Where do you guys think would be the best place to put it? The probes can handle +125C max. Seems like somewhere around the vent damper might work, but I have no idea how hot those parts get.
I seem to remember someone doing something similar last year (jpf321?) but I can't find the post now...

lascar loggers....
I have 3 of these: http://www.katsci.com/products/el-usb-tc.aspx
and 1 of these: http://www.katsci.com/products/el-usb-tc-lcd.aspx
Katsci has the best pricing. Last year I got them from Lascar directly.
They will handle any temp your boiler can throw at it. I just drop the probe into my stove pipe through the inspection hole. If you don't have an inspection hole, you can just foil tape the probe onto the outside of the stove pipe.
A normal boiler stovepipe should not break 650degF or thereabouts. Most stove pipes are probably in the 400-500 range.1-pipe Homeowner - Queens, NYC
