monoflo system should be a loop or not?

I have a question about the monoflo system.

in my original monoflo system the suply and return main line was not connected each other at the end. Last year we converted oil to gas and moved the boiler from one end to another end, no other changes. The plumber connected the supply and return main line at the end. Which way is correct or better, make the main line a loop or don't make it a loop?

thanks,

    Has to be a loop.

The entire premise of a monoflo system is a continuous loop. If you were to break the loop, just as if you were to break a chain letter, horrible things would befall you. Not like locusts or other pestilence, but no flow and that defeats the purpose. Break a monoflow loop and you would have a compromised direct return system and you might as well have piped it up conventionally. I have no idea how it would work otherwise.
