compression style expansion tank instead of therm-x-trol

I removed an old compression style expansion tank from a customer's home and installed a diaphragm style expansion tank for him.
Is there any reason that I shouldn't use that old expansion tank instead of a therm-x-trol for my domestic hot water?

All the nasty crud in that tank...
...and the likelihood that it will rust out in short order and leave you with a flooded basement, but other than that, no reason.0
