air eliminator sizing

Good evening. I have a customer who has a 40k BTU hot water boiler with no air eliminator. The main is 1 1/4" and there is a single 3/4" loop. When I add the air eliminator does it need to go on the main or can it go on the 3/4" pipe? The reason why I'm asking is because the 3/4'" line is copper and easier to tap into. Also all of the accessible pipes are vertical and from what i found on pexsupply.com it seems that the only vertical spirovents are smaller then 1 1/4".
