hydronic modelling for buffer tanks

anyone seen anything that can model buffer tank and temperature rises going in/out with a given heat source and load, over time, for a variety of piping configurations/flow rates?
Hydronics design studio doesn't let me change the piping, and it doesn't spec flow so I'm not very trusting of its results.

not on BTU storage
got that covered. I am interested in speed of temperature rise if you, say, pull out of the bottom instead of the top, in a 2 pipe or a 4 pipe configuration.
there is more to that, given stratification, then just BTUs... but it's complicated.Rob Brown
