Temporary clamp-on temp guage

I am curious about the return temps of my fin tube zones. Where can I get a temporary (or non-plumbed) temperature gauge to attach (clip on) to the 3/4" return copper pipe?
Would an inexpensive non-contact infrared thermometer be better/cheaper?

Strap on thermometers
Check out the ones they have at McMaster Carr's website, they have snap on and strap on styles, they cost a few bucks, but when you cant cut into a line they are a good alternative. I have used these on oil lines and cooling lines for a Solid State controls on our Chillers, they work well0 -
Digital thermometer
Check out the AZEL DIGIT-STAT DS-60. A little pricey, but a good unit.0
