what's anyone using out there for hydronic BTU metering? the Istec meters look nice, but is anyone using them?

How accurately?
Many of the solar controllers read the delta T then you input a flow rate to get a fairly close BTU calculation.
Next step would be the Grundfos flow sensors measuring flow and temperature. There seems to be some question regarding their accuracy with glycols as the fluid changes so much across temperature ranges.
Then the pulse sign rotary meters..
Most of the new solar controllers, and energy meters will accept input form any three of these choices. The large pipe sized water meters get fairly $$.
Beware many of these meters read out in metric units only, possibly the brand you mentioned?
