What is the best boiler for me

I am thinking ahead in case I change my boiler. I would like to know what the professional recommend here. make, model size, easiest to install, efficient, reliable, easy to get replacement parts etc.

I have 12 radiators of which 2 are small bathroom radiators in a two story house with a basement. The basement is heated by a circulator closed loop system which runs through the same boiler. Therefore the boiler would have to have a cutout for it. I was wondering whether it would be better to run it from a water heater or is it more efficient to run the circulator from the boiler.

I would like the boiler to have enough cutouts to install 2 LWCO and other parts I would need.

Thanks for commenting

Yoiu need to do your Homework

Hi- You're sorting of asking the question,"How high is up?"  The answers you want we can't give you without knowing a lot more about your steam system. Do you have Dan's books on steam heating? If you don't, I'd start with them.

as they tell you how to go about replacing a steam system.

There is also a lot of information on this site in the Resources section above, Here is a link that might be of help to you. http://www.heatinghelp.com/article/11/Hot-Tech-Tips/186/How-to-replace-an-old-steam-heating-boiler

For Gas - WetBased Power Burner

Hi- If you are using gas, the type of boiler that is considered most efficient is a wetbased one with a power burner. Steamhead does a lot of these as does Charlie from wmass. I would find one of their posts and click on their name and read the past posts they have written. You should be able to find some discussion and pictures of wetbased boilers they've installed.. They mainly use either SlantFin or Smith. You might also want to read the latest posts of jpf321 as he is in the process of installing a wet based Slantfin with a gas power burner and has kindly shared pictures of this installation with us.
