replacing return line

Because of headroom I am going to replace an existing half inch return line from CI radiator located in a first floor bathroom. It is currently black pipe and I am replacing it with half inch Pex B. The current return line is approximately 20 feet. The room currently very comfortable. I am think about adding a couple of feet and run the new return between the joist under the center of the bathroom in hope of taking the chill off of the tile floor. The subfloor is 1 inch plywood. My thinking was to attach it directly to the plywood. Is it worth the trouble to add a little warmth to my bare feet?
