Are there any restriction on the orientation for swing type check valves? Can they be used in the vertical? Mfg spec sheet gives no info on orientation requirements.

They are in fact dependent upon gravity for proper operation. The top of the valve must be up.There was an error rendering this rich post.

They are not for use to prevent ghost flow
Flow checks are what you need. The weight of the flapper is not enough to prevent gravity or "ghost" flow of the water.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.
